The Marriage Covenant: A Model for Premarital Counseling

First a review of current literature will explore contemporary marital theory and address issues impacting marital satisfaction and stability. A ideological framework for the marriage covenant will be outlined. This will draw on historical and theological uses of covenants, as well as Stephen Covey's concept of a mission statement model for family relations. Finally, a general sample of a marriage covenant, based on a fictional case study for a couple, will be displayed.
